It's been about a month since surgery day, everyday is groundhog day for the Lavender Zebra, but information coming in seems to be slow and a bit of a joy ride. We sit still as we wait for more to come in and learn how to deal with this beast!
My apologies for not posting sooner, but blogging is a full-time job that requires lots of information and as you can see, change in this world of cancer moves very slowly. To get more up-to-date information, Debi has a GroupMe Chat that she posts more detailed information on. CLICK HERE to join.
The Daily Routine
Healing slowly, but very well, Debi has spent her days resting while binge watching shows, having visits with friends, enjoys quality time with family and LOTS of sleep... Then she presses repeat on the tape player (are you old enough to remember what a tape player is?) of life. You know, just lazy days of having your chest cracked opened kind of stuff. Haha. She initially had a burst of energy from all the excitement with the adrenaline surge that naturally happens, but after about two weeks, that had waned. Fatigue comes and goes... just a part of the process.
What's New?
Well, as I said above, this cancer news is a joy ride and ever changing, we are now finding out that the cancer is Lung NET. The tumor in her thymus had lung tissue/cells in it, so it may have started there and moved to her thymus, pancreas and tailbone (yes, she has a tumor in her tailbone too). Debi will now have a have a biopsy on her lungs to pinpoint exactly where the cancer is, as the previous PET scan did not show anything in the lungs. The tailbone will also need more prodding and poking to determine what the next step is for that one. And, maybe next week, we will have a different view of the disease and will have a completely new body organ we will have to discuss, hope not. We need to start moving forward. But, through all this chaotic and unknown world, Debi is holding up and staying positive. She's a tough cookie.
How Can I Help?
Debi has been escaping to her little Utopia to enjoy the fresh air while walking through and watering her garden, while directing me and others to do some heavy lifting... I don't understand why she can't pick up the buckets and boulders; it's as if she has had some major event in her life to restrict her from doing so.
To that point, because our Zebra can't quite yet do push ups and dead lifts, if you would like to spend an hour or two helping her keep her garden as beautiful as she has created in prior years, Debi would love your company and brawn. I will create a calendar with dates for you to sign up and join on days she chooses that work for her.
It takes a village to support our most loved people and you all have been such a gift and inspiration!!
THANK YOU!!
With Love,
Donna
