It's Good to be Home

Today's post will be short and sweet, just want to share:  Debi is home!!

Debi feels great and the pain is at a minimum.  She had a few rough moments after surgery, but we used KT tape on her back to relieve spasms and pain from the 3.5 hour  procedure.  Would you have ever thought, the best pain killer would have been KT tape?  Haha.  Tylenol and Advil are the only pain meds she is taking, whoop!!  She's tough.  Now the healing begins.

Here's a better visual of where Debi's three tumors were sitting next to her heart.  The surgeon said that when he bundled the entire tumor up in his hands, it was a bit bigger than a grapefruit.  That is amazing that my sister was living with that in her chest!  CRAZY!!!

Color Key:

This made up the 99.9% of the Tumor

Large Tumor (Baseball Sized)

Medium Tumor (Golf Ball Sized)

Small Tumor (Grape Sized) - a tiny piece of the grape remains on the phrenic nerve, as full removal could have cause damage to the nerve.

Body of the Mass

Part of Small Tumor that Remained (the 0.1% of tumor) on the phrenic nerve

Area Affected by Tumor: Heart, Pulmonary Artery, Thymus

Phrenic Nerve

Debi will need some quiet time for a couple of weeks, but as soon as she is ready, we will open the revolving door for visitors and the meal train will be set up when we get that figured out.  This is all a learning process, so we are slow.  Ha.

Stay tuned for updates, Debi will most likely be in ground hogs day for a bit, but I will keep you posted with any new news.

Thank you again for being so wonderful.  You made it easier to walk this unexpected path of life.

Tons of LOVE,

Donna

Dear Debi,

I’ve been thinking of you deeply and steadily learning about your surgery, holding you close in heart and spirit. This moment in your life—this part of the journey—is real and meaningful, and I want you to know that you’re not walking it alone. Even from afar, I stand beside you with all the strength and love I can offer.

Recovery asks a lot—it’s not just the body that’s healing, but the spirit and the will, too. I believe in the power of visualization, and I hope you’ll join me in this: picture the parts within you—those that were remain free now and all tumors removed—everything finding it’s way back to wholeness. See each cell, each thread of your being, reweaving itself with grace and precision. Let your imagination be a place of light, where healing is already in motion and wholeness is not just a wish, but a promise being fulfilled.

You are strong, but you don’t have to be strong alone. I am with you, Debi. BREATHE, and with every breath you take, may you feel supported by love—mine, and the love that surrounds you in ways seen and unseen.

Listen to your body. Let your spirit lead and modern science, the power of visualization to see yourself whole and returned to normal, cells and all. And know that your healing matters—not just to you, but to all of us who love you and hold you dear.

With fierce faith in your recovery and gentle hope for each new day,
Barbara L, former neighbor and only a phone call away!
